LEFTOVERS: Toomey on Kagan, Rendell on Sesak, the Chamber for Dent
Republican Senate hopeful Pat Toomey supported President Obama’s first Supreme Court pick. He hasn’t made up his mind about the second.
After backing Sonia Sotomayor last year, Toomey said he’s withholding judgment until taking in her confirmation hearings. “Every once in a while it would be refreshing if politicians did less talking and more listening,” Toomey told PoliticsPA. “I look forward to listening to Ms. Kagan’s testimony, and to learning more about her views and background.
“I have an open mind about her nomination,” he added.
Meanwhile, we’ve got more post-primary commentary from Gov. Ed Rendell, who also says Senate nominee Joe Sestak and the White House should be more forward about Sestak’s famed claim of a job offer, which just won’t seem to die. He told reporters in Harrisburg that “the White House and Joe Sestak should be a little more detailed and put this behind them.” But he also said he was confident nothing illegal happened and that such political jockeying has been “going on for decades.” Capitol Ideas also flagged this TV appearance in which Toomey again weighed in on the matter. But considering all the media hullabaloo, it’s worth checking out what the experts are saying to Talking Points Memo. In essence—”much ado about nothing.”
And the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is going with the incumbent in the 15th Congressional District, issuing a not-so-surprising of Republican Charlie Dent over Democratic challenger John Callahan. The business lobby said in a statement that “we believe Congressman’s Dent’s election … will produce sustained economic growth and help create more jobs.”
Let the slow news week continue.

Toomey doesn’t get a vote on this one.
As for Rendell’s comments, there are two things going on:
1) Getting it over and done with is good advice.
2) Ed’s not backing Sestak on the “Silent Bob” shtick.
