LEFTOVERS: No Obama visit, Peterson for Huber, Joe the Plumber, 50-foot Pelosi
Senator Arlen Specter won’t get a late-primary visit from his supporter-in-chief, President Obama. That was one of the takeaways from White House Press Secretary Gibbs’ briefing with reporters on Tuesday. Politico reports Gibbs saying that Obama is not considering a trip to the Keystone State between now and next Tuesday’s primary. That doesn’t mean Obama is absent from the campaign trail: his support for Specter continues to manifest itself in radio spots and TV ads.
Meanwhile, Republican Paul Huber got a nice boost in his campaign for the party’s nomination in the 3rd Congressional District. Huber, a Meadville businessman, was endorsed by former Congressman John Peterson, who for six terms represented central Pennsylvania’s 5th District. “After reviewing all of the candidates running for the Republican nomination in the 3rd District, I am proud to endorse Paul Huber,” Peterson said in a campaign statement. “More than any other candidate, Paul has the strength and experience to stand up to Nancy Pelosi and the Obama administration and hold them accountable. I am confident that he will also take on his own leadership when they deviate from conservative principles.”
We also learned that, later in the week, the famous “Joe the Plumber” will return to Pennsylvania. He’s coming here, once again, to stump for conservative gubernatorial candidate Sam Rohrer. The state Representative’s campaign said that the man less often known as Samuel Wurzelbacher will make three stops for Rohrer on Thursday, starting at a coffee shop in Latrobe and ending at a diner in West Blairsville. Mr. The Plumber previously appeared at Rohrer’s big campaign rally in Harrisburg back in February.
And if there’s a prize for most ridiculous campaign ad of this political season, we can call the contest now. Our winner is undoubtedly the new spot being run by the conservative group RightChange.com. The animated ad is being aired ahead of next week’s 12th District special election—at a cost of more than $80,000—and introduces us to a creature known as the “50-foot Nancy Pelosi.”

What do you mean he isnt coming? I put my career on the line for him and he is just going to leave me hanging? Hold on… what do you mean no one believes me that I put my career on the line? People really think I did this just for myself and not for them? When did the voters start caring? Damn it, I am screwed.

If you look at the Specter ad from Obama’s appearance, you can see the same Sestak “zombie” who appears in Sestak’s crowd scene. (She actually is a VERY nice lady and GOOD Democrat, but I have to tease her that she appears in the front row of the Specter/Obama event and the commercial.)
I wasn’t expecting Obama to make a second appearance for Specter (at least not in Philly area). I considered that if Obama did make a second appearance, it would be in Pittsburgh to tie-in with some “jobs” event, and I wouldn’t be able to attend anyway.

Toomey will destroy “Stepford Joe” with that plastic looking smile painted across his face.

Whitehouse finally realized that there is no use in risking political capital on Specter’s losing, self-serving gamble to be a living embodiment of Lord Acton’s teaching about power and corruption. Specter should have been retired involuntarily years ago. I am proud of the Democratic rank-and-file for rejecting such scum, and let this be a warning shot to the corrupt leadership that tried to foist an unprincipled chameleon like Arlen Specter on the party.

David, since you are the smartest political mind in the state, what do I do? Rep. Alan Mollohan lost in his primary tonight and many parallels have been drawn between his chances and mine. He got steamrolled. Whats my next move? Do I try and swiftboat again? Do I tell people that Barack is my buddy and he believes in me and is going to campaign down the stretch for me (hopefully they dont notice he never comes)? Maybe I should up the ad buy for the ad I stole from Claire McCaskill? But you hammered Sestak for borrowing from his own ad. I mean you are right, how fucking unoriginal can he get, using your own ad? Come on! David, help me out. I need a pick me up, and no one can polish shit like you can. Why does EVERY fucking poll have me down? They have to be wrong! Spin this Dave, tell me what to do.

Sestak was removed as DCNO involuntarily. Now it’s fitting that Joe’s “losing, self-serving gamble” also removed him from public office.

I’m just the sharpest political mind on this blog.
The sharpest minds in the state are on your team with the full Dem establishment behind them.
The dullest minds are at a well know political HQ in Media, PA (and among the anonymous drone posters).
After May 18th, we’ll see snarlin Sestak.
