Millionaire businessman Tom Knox, who dropped out of the Democratic race for governor earlier this year, was briefly back on the political radar Wednesday evening, when he e-mailed supporters to make his endorsements in the party’s statewide races.

Knox endorsed Senator Arlen Specter for renomination, and backed Dan Onorato in the governor’s race, picking the Allegheny County Executive over state Senator Anthony Williams (D-Philadelphia), who entered the race largely because Knox, who he supported, got out. Knox had voiced his support for Onorato the day he formally withdrew from the race.

“As Pennsylvania’s longest serving senator, Arlen Specter has built a legacy of caring and support for the people of the Commonwealth,” Knox wrote. “In seeking an unprecedented sixth term, he intends to carry on the unfinished business of education, health care reform, jobs, fair trade, ending warrantless wiretaps, support for farmers, and civil rights and civil liberties for all. His experience and seniority in 30 years in the Senate have brought billions of dollars into the Commonwealth and created thousands of jobs.”

In a separate e-mail to supporters, Knox called Onorato “the best qualified of all the candidates.”

“I strongly believe that the knowledge and experience he has gained as the Allegheny County Executive puts him in the best position to deal with the many problems that will be facing the next Governor immediately after the election,” Knox said. “I am confident that Dan Onorato is up to the task of coming up with new, innovative, and effective solutions to those problems and will make an excellent Governor.”

I think Tom’s nickname should be “Cut and Paste Knox”. Did anyone read how similar the endorsements are?

    Onorato endorsement ending

Dan Onorato needs our support. And we need to elect a man of his moderation, experience and wisdom as our next Governor.

    Specter endorsement ending

He needs our support. And we need to return a man of his moderation, experience and wisdom to the Senate.

Political pandering….Please vote using your own common sense. When someone of status supports someone there is usually a reason OTHER then they just think they’re the best candidate. I’m so tired of hearing about who supports who….Don’t care.It means nothing. Read, learn and choose a candidate based on what YOU believe.
