Huber loans campaign another $25K
The self-financing in the 3rd Congressional District is going down to the wire.
Republican Paul Huber, one of two Republican front-runners in the six-way primary field, loaned his campaign another $25,000 on Friday, according to campaign finance data. This came just days after Mike Kelly, Huber’s chief rival for the party’s nod to take on Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper, briefly surpassed Huber as the loan-leader in the race.
Huber has now loaned his campaign $325,000 and Kelly has kicked in $315,000.
Tea Party activist Clayton Grabb, physician Martha Moore, insurance agent Steven Fisher and factory worker Ed Franz are also running.
The district is ranked No. 3 in the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

Kelly coughed up another $25,000 on Wednesday for a total of $340,000! Has anyone else besides me asked themselves, “Why would someone spend over $300,000 of their OWN money to secure a job that pays $174,000″? Is THAT a good business decision? Is this the type of “decision” I can expect them to make with my (and your) tax dollars??
We should not choose our candidate by the size of their bank account. We need to pay attention to the issues. Politicians willing to spend thousands of dollars on their campaign are also too willing to spend my hard earned tax dollars once they are elected. We need people representing us that know how hard it is to make a dollar. We need to pay closer attention to the issues and do a little bit of research – search the internet, go to candidate forums and meet and greets. These candidates should ALL be accessible to us in these days before the election. If they are too busy creating expensive negative political ads then they have not heard one thing that we the people having been telling them. We don’t need that kind of representative.
It’s time we take the dollars out of the campaigns and government and put it back in our pockets. I’m voting for someone who is frugal in their campaign spending but is meeting and listening to the people and stands for the things that are important to me, upholding and protecting the constitution, fiscal responsibility, pro-life and term limits to keep out career politicians.
And the Kelly and Huber supporters still believe that these two are in this for the good of the people. I still believe they are in it for their own special interests. Why else would they gamble so much of their own money? In the end the only thing we need more of than them is votes – and that is what we will get on Tuesday. THINK ABOUT IT!!!! Vote GRABB for Congress – #1 on the Ballot!

Even if Grabb loses Tuesday, Christian conservatives join voices and write-in “Clayton Grabb” for Congress this November!

Both of them worked for their money, and they can spend it as they wish. Obviously both feel that removing Dahlkemper from office is worth spending their own money. It doesn’t make them any better than the other candidates but it doesn’t make them worse either. How about leaving the class warfare to the Democrats, where it belongs.

Just because someone changes their party, doesn’t mean that they have changed their mind. It just means they want to be elected.
Voters should consider a candidates flexibility on the issues, sort of like a windsock at the airport. Just like the song, “The answer my friend is blowing in the wind…”
If Mr. Huber worries about proving to people that he has changed his party, he should take the advice of an old Eastern PA sage….” When voters go into that booth on Tuesday, they don’t see a ‘D or an R’….they see a ‘D and an R’.”

I’ll say it again….Huber can’t beat Dahlkemper. The Republicans who believe that he is a changed man are being fed a line. He is nothing more than a “specter” opportunist.

See how Paul Huber treated his employees here:

Keep the Faith:
I would be more wary of someone who is spending $20K of their own money to get into a job that pays $170K, than of someone who doesn’t need the cash.
Maybe Huber and Kelly care enough to spend their own money and won’t be swayed by getting a fat check from the government…seeing as neither seems to need it and isn’t in this for the money.
Has Grabb said he won’t take the money? Or will give a portion of it back? Sounds like a huge raise for him. Makes you wonder what he’s in the race for.

Of all the candidates in the race, Mr. Grabb has actually been the most considerate to allow me to express my viewpoints on his Facebook page.
He even gave me my own special corner on his Wall where I could sit and eat my paste, and bang my head on the wall until someone would respond to my posts. He recognizes that I am just a person who needs to be heard and then ignored, while the other candidates just do the ignore part.

I think you Clayton Grabb supporters need to grow up. Let’s assume your man wins the primary, he is going to need to raise some serious money to be competative in November. Whether you like it or not, it’s going to take between $500K-1M to win back that seat.
And as far as a “write-in” campaign if you lose… let me get this straight…. you’d rather return a woman who effectively spit all over her “pro-life” stance to congress instead of electing a real “pro-life” candiate who might not be as “Christian” as you feel he should be.
That’s just brilliant!

Amen Pete!!
I wouldn’t commmit to exact figures, but if Grabb beats Kelly and Huber with his $30k against their $300k each, he will at least need $15k to beat Dahlkemper. This is based on Dahlkemper blowing her whole family fortune on her campaign, and her making a couple more bad votes on upcoming legislation. We should meet for coffee…

Jason, do I detect a bit of sarcasm in your post?
After reviewing the positions of each candidate, I haven’t found a dimes worth of difference between them. Huber is too much of a policy wonk with little personality and a questionable policital past (i.e Democratic past). Grabb is pushing the whole social conservative angle which doesn’t fit that well with this district. As a result I’m leaning Kelly. He has experience in marketing himself and that goes a long way in today’s political environment.
Bottom line….Dahlkemper has to go!!!

Hey Pete…sorry for any misunderstanding. I agree, Kelly does have the greatest potential to market himself for his vote, and in DC that is pretty much the environment as you describe. He would never reveal his bottom line, and would certainly drive a hard bargain for the district.
Excuse the car dealer metaphors, but either way KD has to go! Serious dude, we need to vulcan mind meld over some latte’s…
