Hoeffel low on campaign cash

Hoeffel low on campaign cash

In the end, Joe Hoeffel won’t have had much money to work with for the homestretch.

Hoeffel, the Montgomery County Commissioner and Democratic candidate for governor, raised $215,000 between March 30 and May 3. But he also started to spend more heavily after becoming the last candidate in the four-way primary to air TV ads, and two weeks before the May 18 primary, he had only $46,000 in the bank, according to state campaign finance data.

The former congressman got into the race late, and his fundraising has never quite reached the pace needed to compete against the better-funded candidates. He had initially set a goal of raising $1 million by the end of last year. But as of Tuesday, he still hadn’t reach that threshold, raising a little over $800,000 to date.

He began airing TV ads last week, though it appeared to be a small buy. His campaign finance report lists a $50,000 expenditure for paid media, but it remains unclear if that amount will be the full extent of his TV presence.

Why yes, I do. In fact because he doesn’t have a contribution war-chest from Big Ag, Big Coal, Big Gas, Big Insurance, and Big Banks endears me more to Joe Hoeffel.
Obviously your brain equates Big Money contributions to good governance instead of recognizing that the Big Money the other candidates have taken from the aforementioned is in itself corruption.

Joe is going to run into donor fatigue next year. His partnership with Matthews will be over perhaps sooner rather than later and Joe will have to take ownership of the county’s insolvency and Matthews’ corruption. He’s in for a rough time.

I take Joe seriously. So seriously, he’s earned my vote.
