Buchanan disavows bailout in robo-call
Republican Mary Beth Buchanan has taken to a robo-call to rebut what she calls “cheap political distortions” by 4th District primary opponent Keith Rothfus.
In the call, obtained by GrassrootsPA, Buchanan says she opposed the financial bailout that passed through Congress in 2008.
However, she told The Tribune-Review last month that the bailout bill had prevented the economy from collapsing. She also seems to conflate the bailout bill with the stimulus package in her campaign robo-call, saying “I opposed the Wall Street bailout, and would never have voted for Nancy Pelosi’s pork-laden bill.” But the bailout bill was pushed by the Bush administration more than anyone else, and charges of “pork” have far more often been levied on the stimulus package pushed by Pelosi and President Obama.

Dance faster, Mary Beth, dance faster. If you opposed the financial bailout bill (as you say in your robo call), but you admit that the bailout bill prevented the American economy from collapsing (as you told the Tribune-Review), then, logically, you opposed saving our economy from collapse.
Your own public statements beg the question: did you actually want our economy to collapse or is it that you will you say anything, even if it is illogical, contradictory or irresponsible, to try to win this election? It’s got to be one or the other.
