Behind the wheel, Diamond hits Metcalfe over pension
Republican Russ Diamond is keeping up his YouTube-driven campaign for Lieutenant Governor, using his latest missive to hit opponent Daryl Metcalfe over the state pension he receives with the rest of his colleagues.
The new clip from Diamond, who founded the reform group PACleanSweep, amounts to a “video challenge” in which Diamond cites a state Constitution stipulation that members of the General Assembly shall receive “salary and mileage” and “no other compensation whatever.”
“So Daryl,” Diamond says from behind the wheel of what looks like a moving car, “my challenge to you is for you to explain to the people of Pennsylvania how you justify participating in a million-dollar gold-plated legislative pension plan when the Constitution clearly states that you’re only entitled to salary and mileage and no other compensation whatever.”
A Metcalfe aide could not immeidately be reached for comment. Diamond and Metcalfe are among a crowded field of nine Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for Lt. Gov. Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley is the state party’s endorsed candidate and presumed front-runner.

I am afraid Mr. Diamond did not pick a very good example . Article 1 Section 8 limits ” members ” of the General Assembly . Members of the General Assembly cannot collect state pensions for their legislative service. Only former members receive pension benefits . Retired members are no longer members . It really is not rocket science .

Martel – so what about per diems?

He mentioned the pensions in the clip . I have no opinion on the per diems , but I worry more about hundreds of billions for immigrants , including phony refugees, than I do about tens of thousands in per diems .
