Altmire weighs in on GOP contest to face him

Let it be known that Congressman Jason Altmire (D-4) is impressed by Republican Keith Rothfus. Or maybe he’s just not impressed with Rothfus’ primary opponent, Mary Beth Buchanan.

Altmire this week briefly weighed on the GOP primary that will yield his November opponent. And like many other political watchers, he thinks Buchanan won’t just walk into the nomination like she may have hoped. For two reporting periods, the former U.S. Attorney has been bested in fundraising by Rothfus, an Edgeworth lawyer.

“He has been outworking her,” Altmire bluntly told The Tribune-Review.

The district is currently ranked No. 8 on the pa2010.com Congressional Power Rankings.

Hope the Repubs nominate Rothfus. As a Democrat, I think I can vote for him in the general election. Can’t vote for Buchanan.
Can’t vote for Altmire. Will write-in Jack Shea in the primary.

Their finance reports are interesting. Rothfus is running on a much larger amount of local money and his own funds, truly grassroots since the Party favors Buchanan.

My article breaks down the numbers, showing Buchanan received a third of her individual contributions from out of state, and still Rothfus nearly tripled her in the same category. Please check it out.
