WAGNER ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENTS IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY

By JACK WAGNER FOR GOVERNOR

ALLENTOWN (Apr. 22, 2010) – Led by State Representative Jennifer L. Mann, 11 elected officials and Democratic Party leaders have announced their endorsement of Auditor General Wagner in his candidacy for Governor.

Joining Representative Mann in endorsing Wagner was:

Rich Grucela, State Representative
Joseph Brennan, State Representative
Andrea Naugle, Clerk of Judicial Records
W. Michael Donovan, Vice President of Allentown City Council
Peter Schweyer, Allentown City Councilman
Jimmy Schlener, Chair of the Bethlehem City Democratic Committee
Susan Rutt, Democratic State Committee
Rob Hopkins, Democratic State Committee
Patricia Smith-Mendsen, Democratic State Committee
Courtney Robinson, 2nd Vice Chair of the Lehigh County Democratic Committee
“Jack’s track record as President of Pittsburgh City Council, a State Senator, and now Auditor General gives him an unmatched understanding of government at all levels,” said Mann.  “He has served with integrity in a bi-partisan manner.  Jack has the right plan to stimulate Pennsylvania’s economy and create jobs.  His audits have found hundreds of millions of dollars in potential sustainable savings.  I am proud to endorse Auditor General Jack Wagner and encourage Pennsylvania citizens to vote for him in the May Democratic Primary Election.”

“I am humbly grateful and honored to have the support of these fine leaders who do a terrific job representing the citizens of the Lehigh Valley,” said Wagner.  “They are consummate professionals who have a clear understanding of the issues impacting state and local government.  I look forward to working with them and hearing their ideas if I am fortunate to be elected Governor.”

As Governor, Auditor General Wagner’s top priorities for Pennsylvania will include: providing a HOPE Scholarship Program to help families afford the cost of higher education, maintaining vital government services without raising taxes, reforming state government, investing in smart infrastructure projects that create jobs, and maximizing the state’s new Marcellus Shale energy resources to create jobs and reduce the cost of natural gas in an environmentally responsible way.

Wagner is a decorated Vietnam War combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, former member and president of the Pittsburgh City Council, and former state senator representing Allegheny County.  Between the time of his military service and his service as an elected public official, Wagner worked his way through college on the GI Bill and as a paramedic, followed by six years working as a Certified Safety Professional helping to ensure that businesses provide safe work environments for their employees.
