Sellers buys bailout-bashing billboards

A billboard for Republican Patrick Sellers on Interstate 176 near Morgantown.
Republican Patrick Sellers has no doubt he’s the underdog in the looming Republican primary against Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-6). But the Tea Party candidate hopes the 10 billboard advertisements that have gone up in recent days will make Gerlach work a little harder.
“I’m hoping these billboards hit him blindside,” Sellers said.
After pa2010.com spotted one of the billboards on Interstate 176 near Morgantown, Sellers said his campaign is spending about $8,000 for the lot of them, which are spread around the suburban Philadelphia district. Sellers has yet to any campaign finance data with the Federal Election Commission because he only recently crossed the $5,000 threshold at which candidates are required to form a committee (despite filing nominating petitions to get on the ballot in March, he only filed a statement of candidacy with the FEC earlier this month).
The billboards, which ask voters if they’re sick of “billionaire bailouts,” will be the campaign’s main advertising medium, Sellers said. Roadside billboards often provide low-cost advertising for under-funded candidates. Gerlach has already raised about half-a-million dollars since getting back into the race earlier this year, and the candidate seen as his only viable competition for the nomination, wealthy businessman Steven Welch, dropped out of the race two months ago.

That’s funny. Where’s the disclaimer?

I heard Mr. Sellers speak in Philly at the Union League back in February or March. I was impressed by his sincerity and honesty as the only Republican congressional candidate I have heard this year in Pennsylvania talking about ending the two trillion dollar wars, restoring civil liberties, ending the American empire, and defending the national interest.
I can’t vote in his primary, but I wish I could!
Where are you?

I’ll be voting for Pat. He’s the only R candidate who thinks limited government involves ending the war and not meddling into our personal lives.

Joe – look carefully; disclaimer appears to be in lower left-hand corner.

Pat will most certainly lose in the General Election.
If we want to hold the 6th and turn the tide Red in Congress, then Jim Gerlach is our man.
Get real people.

Nick,
I have no problem with Jim Gerlach personally. He seems like a good guy. My problem is that Gerlach was a rubber-stamp for the failed policies of the Bush Administration.
When it came to the War in Iraq, Jim Gerlach was a loyal Bush vote.
When it came to warrantless wiretapping, Jim Gerlach was a loyal Bush vote.
When it came to the Patriot Act and later the reauthorization of the Patriot Act, Jim Gerlach was a loyal Bush vote.
When it came to No Child Left Behind, Jim Gerlach was a loyal Bush vote.
When it came to trade deals that hurt American workers, Jim Gerlach was a loyal Bush vote.
On all decisions to reauthorize spending on the two wars that have currently cost us $980 billion, Jim Gerlach has been a loyal vote for Bush and Obama.
And the list goes on like this. When it came time to make the toughest choices on things like the wars, civil liberties, federal spending, privacy, American jobs, and so forth, Jim Gerlach just hasn’t done a very good job of watching out for our rights, our wallets, and our future.
Pat Sellers will be more cognizant of these issues.

Well put Nathan! The government is $12,700,000,000,000 in debt and climbing. Civil liberties have been traded in for wiretaps and peep-show scanners. How the hell is the status quo sustainable? How bad will things get before we toss out the plunderers and elect a real person?
Nick, please satisfy your blood lust with some good horror movies. Those needless wars of aggression and billionaire bailouts are bankrupting our country. Big-government is not conservative. Its not patriotic. Its liberal fascism.

Nick advocates voting for socialists like Gerlach. If Mao or Stalin rise from the grave and register Republican, I have no doubt that he’ll be ready to campaign for them. All that counts is the “R.” GO RED TIDE!
Incidentally, Gerlach this quarter again took money from the Growth and Prosperity PAC. That’s Fannie Mae’s PAC. See the pattern? Gerlach voted to allow that fascist GSE to drain the taxpayers via Treasury funding. Quid pro quo, baby. Gotta love it. Go Red tide!
So you go vote for the socialist, Nick. Go vote for Mr. Bailout who also rakes in union funds from the NEA and other ill sorts. Go get yourself the next Arlen Specter.
