Pike’s ‘not taking any lectures’ from Gerlach (Updated)
Democrat Doug Pike quickly fired back at Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-6) Tuesday, saying that criticism from the incumbent over his potential opponents’ liberal spending policies simply rang hallow.
“We are not going to take any lectures on fiscal responsibility from someone who voted for the irresponsible Bush budgets that started this mess,” Pike said in a statement. “I’ve run a business and balanced budgets, while Jim Gerlach has busted budgets year after year, eight years running. We’ve had enough of his name-calling politics.
“But we have come to expect this from Gerlach,” Pike added. “He is someone who has chosen the path of a politician pleasing his donors and political bosses, instead of working to help regular Americans improve their lives.”
A few hours earlier, Gerlach’s campaign had called the primary contest between Pike and Manan Trivedi a “MoveOn.org beauty pageant.”
UPDATE: Trivedi also responded to Gerlach Tuesday, with campaign manager Ed Niles saying that “on this day, as Manan and Surekha celebrate the birth of their first child, the campaign is looking toward the future and implementing a vision for how we can improve Pennsylvania. It’s no surprise that with crass statements like the ones Jim Gerlach made today, he is no where to be found in that picture.”

Here we go, blame Bush, blame Bush. How about the Community Reinvestment Act pushed by libs like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, the Obama-supporting execs at Fannie and Freddie, and ACORN? What a joke. I guess we can’t talk about them, or Pike will lose even more establishment support.

And, Doug, what are you going to vote for if you get to D.C. The lousy budget that Pelosi puts in front of you or the really lousy budget that Obammy puts in front of you? What good will your business experience do you as a freshman Congressmen then? Dope.

Excuse me, you realize the President presents a budget and that his currently includes spending freezes and deficit reduction measures right? And President Bush sent us off on one war and then abandon our troops by starting another based on lies, you realizes this causes us GREAT budget deficits and then his ignorance towards the markets caused them to plummet. GREAT point we SHOULD let Bush off task. Morons.
Oh wow.

Trivedi’s campaign had really nothing to say? If those are the responses he’d give to Gerlach the someone help the democrats because HE’d get WALKED all over. Pike is RIGHT on, Gerlach is part of Bush’s party of cronies who let this country fall to pieces economically. Time for real leadership and someone who will vote on the right (I guess left) side of history.
Great!

It’s great to see Pike stand and fight back. While some were saying it was a petty comments, Gerlach’s policy comments were lies and off base. So for Pike to fire back is GREAT. Sorry Trivedi didn’t.
