Meakem endorses Rothfus in 4th Distrct
Prominent talk-show host and Pittsburgh entrepreneur Glen Meakem on Thursday endorsed Republican Keith Rothfus for Congress in the 4th District, lending still more credibility and momentum to the insurgent’s primary bid against former U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.
Meakem, whose name was briefly floated as a Senate candidate last year, is well-known in western Pennsylvania for the conservative talk show he hosts and for his role a civic leader wealthy from founding businesses in start-up and venture capital. In a statement, he said Rothfus, an Edgeworth attorney who bested Buchanan in fundraising last quarter, “has the clarity of vision and commitment to principle that we need in Washington.”
“The same laws of economics that shaped the Reagan Revolution and led to two decades of economic growth remain in force today,” Meakem said. “Keith understands that, and he will be an effective advocate for common sense and fiscal responsibility in Washington. There is no doubt in my mind that Keith is not only the strongest possible Republican candidate for the general election but the one best able to represent the people of western Pennsylvania in Congress.”
