LEFTOVERS: Mayors for Onorato, an old PA-12 poll, Argall’s cash, a Specter-Santorum ad

Several western Pennsylvania mayors endorsed Democrat Dan Onorato for governor Tuesday, each lending their support from one local government executive to another. Those backing the Allegheny County Executive in the four-way primary included New Kensington Mayor Thomas Guzzo.

“Dan Onorato is the leader Pennsylvania needs,” Guzzo said in a statement. “He knows firsthand how to run an efficient government including the crucial responsibility of ensuring public safety.”

The others mayors supporting Onorato Tuesday were Arnold’s John Campbell; Brackenridge’s Tom Kish; Lower Burrell’s Don Kinosz; Plum’s Rich Hrivnak; and Tarentum’s Carl Magnetta.

Meanwhile, there’s nothing like a month-old poll to shake things up a bit. Our friends at Early Returns 2.0 reported on a GOP poll from mid-March, which showed Republican Tim Burns edging Democrat Mark Critz by four points in the 12th Congressional District special election. A Democratic operative clearly saw it as a Republican leak, writing in an e-mail to pa2010.com Central: “What do you do when you’re campaign is struggling with fundraising and you’re not on TV? You release a month old poll!” Actually, our intel says that Burns is on TV, but now we’ll have to double-check that.

Over in the central part of the state, 17th District Republican front-runner Dave Argall is raising money in the hope of unseating Congressman Tim Holden (D-17). PoliticsPA reports that the state Senator has racked up $125,000 so far. He’s got about $100,000 in cash on hand.

And lastly, Joe Sestak might not be advertising yet in the Democratic Senate primary, but that isn’t stopping his campaign’s continuing series of “The Real Specter” Web ads. The latest hits on the controversey surrounding Rick Santorum’s claim that he endorsed Arlen Specter in 2004 only becasue Specter pledged his future support for Bush administration judicial nominees.

    Romney Ties Burns To Healthcare

Does Romney’s endorsement of Burns mean BURNS endorsed RomneyCare which smells a lot like Obamacare? Pawlenty who has also endorsed Burns said, “the Massachusetts health law requires individuals carry health insurance. Pawlenty likens that law to the federal health care overhaul.

“Looking at the Massachusetts experience, it would not be one I would want the country to follow any further,” Pawlenty said in New Hampshire last month.

That was the best Sestak could come up with? A statement from Specter that he expected Bush to nominate a guy that he could vote for? Oooh how damning.
Would you like some tea with your “weak”?

Burns has been on the air for some time now. His hometown spot aired during the final four tourment in the PGH market a lot. Critiz has had limited air.

I have yet to see a Critz ad. I’ve only seen it here, never once on tv. I’ve seen dozens of Burns ads. They are always on. Plus, wasn’t it reported just a few days ago that both candidates raised nearly the same amount so far, just over $300k? Plus, Burns obviously has deeper pockets because of his personal cashflow. I think that “democrat operative” was delusional.

Dave there are thousands and thousands of hours of video showing Arlen supporting every wacko right wing idea and nominee ever floated by the Republican Party. I grant the one exception is Bork.

    Bill-

Arlen has also voted for every Democratic supreme court nominee.

I don’t think you can find video of Arlen supporting overturning Roe v Wade, or of cutting off stem cell research. Oh, do you have video of Arlen opposing the stimulus bill? How about opposing minimum wage (oh, that’s Sestak who opposes that).

Hmmm, you really need to be more careful in the use of “every” when you make an easily debunked statement.
