Corbett reportedly to air TV ads this week

Corbett reportedly to air TV ads this week

He’s the overwhelming front-runner in the GOP primary for governor, but state Attorney General Tom Corbett is still going to buy some TV time.

The Morning Call reports that Corbett will be on the airwaves later this week, with about half-a-million dollars worth of ads on TV and radio in the Pittsburgh and Johnstown markets.

Corbett plans to stay on the air until the May 18 primary, the newspaper reports.

Underdog conservative Sam Rohrer reportedly has snatched up about $100,000 worth of radio ads, but it’s unclear how he’s funding that ad buy; he had less than $5,000 in the bank at the end of March.

    Test for Tom Corbett.

Where does U.S. stand vs rest of developed world when it comes to infant mortality, life expectancy, morbidity(days lost from work due to illness)?

    Answer..Terrible

    Test for Tom Corbett.

Why are you using tax-payer dollars, including tax dollars from those who cannot get decent healthcare, in a politically motivated suit aimed at perpetuating the lousy standard of care mentioned above?

Answer..”I’ve got good health care, screw the rest of you”

Memo to “tea partiers”, read your history. Sam Adams had a warehouse full of tea. Dumping the British tea in the harbor made his tea in the warehouse much more valuable. Call it early price manipulation.

When will PA2010 start zeroing in the the explaining Mr. Corbett needs to share with the public in order to prove he is not doing EXACTLY what he is prosecuting BONUSGATE defendants from doing? That is campaign work on state time and with state resources. Come on PA2010 start some digging and put the emphasis on the AG’s office to prove they are not doing this. Also, how the AG’s office did or did not handle the Orie affair. This is all Pa. politics at its WORSE, and Mr. Corbett has some explaining to do.

I’m a Republican primary voter. I’m voting for Sam Rohrer in the primary because I think he’s pound-for-pound the better choice because of his legislative work for the last 18 years. I think that a governor who comes out of the legislature is inherently better than one who does not (see Ridge and Casey who did versus Rendell who did not).

With that said, I watched Mr. Corbett on TV last night giving a speech at the Penna. Leadership Conference over the weekend. His speech was excellent, his ideas were sharp, and he was much better than when I saw him speak in person last year.

I earlier said that I wouldn’t vote for him in the general election. Now I’m back on the fence for November.

The 18 yrs of legislative work that gave us the current pension crisis, pay raises, and per diems?

    Rohrer is a fraud.

Hey, Republican Super Voter, you may want to think twice about Mr. Rohrer. As the other comment alluded to, Rohrer’s legisltive work in 18 years includes; being DIRECTLY INVOLVED in the legislative pay raise in the middle of the night in summer 2005 as they all attempted to STEAL FROM PA TAXPAYERS, plain and simple. Rohrer gleefully went along with the pension give-a-way under Tom Ridge that we will pay for this decade, and taking his per diem while no budget was passed for over 100 days last year. Pretty greedy for a so-called “conservative.” Is this the kind of accountability you want from a governor? I certainly don’t. We can’t afford Sam Rohrer as governor. And, no matter how you feel about Corbett’s speech, he still has a lot of explaining to do about the conflicts of his current office. How can we have a governor that can’t be trusted? We can’t. Not that the Democratic candidates are much better. We really have weak choices in this state which is sad for all Pa. voters. Zero leadership, all simply bureaucrats. Some choices, huh?

I concur. The current crop of candidates if far from superior. I wish this was an “open primary” where members of one party could possibly cross over and vote in the other party’s primary. If so, I’d vote for Jack Wagner over all of them.

I really would like to see a vialbe independent candidate for Governor who was able to speak to both Republicans and Democrats quite equally.

Of the Republicans, Rohrer is still far better than Corbett. I personally believe that Corbett ought to resign as AG like Bob McDonnell did in Virginia. If he did that, maybe he would have been my pick for Governor.

Rohrer’s conservative stump speeches are terrific, but when you run your whole campaign on the importance of truth, you set yourself up for a big fall if you can’t deliver on your promises.

My problem with Rohrer is that his “end to property taxes” plan is smoke and mirrors. The nnumbers don’t work, and when he’s challenged on them he basically says that the government will worry about paying for his plan’s shortfall in the future. Sound familiar? Sound truthful from someone running as an arch conservative?

I’m also not happy with his plan for the state to take over schools from local governments. Once states take over school district funding, there isn’t a legislative protection in the world that will stop them from stealing from the rich and giving to the poor – once a healthy percentage is skimmed for the state itself. The pension bomb is all you need to know about to understand my point.

My last point is, if what this article says is true and Sam only has $5,000 in the bank – well, I don’t see how Sam will be an effective state wide campaigner if he can’t do better than that.

As much as I like Sam, Tom Corbett has a solid record AND he is putting together the resources to win in November. I like Tom’s chances much more than Sam’s.

For those of you who like to bash Rohrer, take this for a spin: http://therealtomcorbett.wordpress.com/

I’d really like to hear your comments on this.

And BTW, “Change in 2010″, the Rohrer property tax plan absolutely DOES work and has been vetted by multiple reliable sources. You’ve apparently been drinking the Corbett Kool-Aid without doing any research on your own. Please learn the true facts before you write.

When is the AG going to open an investigation into voter intimidation in the last election in Pennsylvania? Our dem in the white house won’t and neither will good old Tom. Remember how our fast Eddie gave such nice remarks to the press about Mr. Corbett. I would call that an endorsement from Mr. Ed. Show me the list of roadblocks that our AG has put up for fast Ed these past six years? Wow, I thought we had checks and balances with our two parties or do we have another Benedict Arlene?
