Brady not worried about an all-Philly ticket

Brady not worried about an all-Philly ticket

PHILADELPHIA—If Bob Brady has his way, the Democratic Party’s gubernatorial ticket will be all Philly, all the time. And that doesn’t bother him one bit.

Brady endorsed Anthony Williams for governor on Monday. He’s also endorsed—and been the most adamant supporter of—Jonathan Saidel for Lieutenant Governor. Williams is a state Senator hailing from west Philadelphia. Saidel is a former City Controller from northeast Philadelphia. Conventional wisdom holds that an all-Philly ticket would be disastrous in a general election, making it difficult to court votes from the many regions of the state wary of the big city’s influence on Pennsylvania politics.

Just don’t tell that to Brady, chairman of the city party.

“I’d be elated,” he told pa2010.com in a brief interview outside City Hall here. “I’d love to be in that position.”

Brady also downplayed the idea that his relationship with Dan Onorato, the party’s gubernatorial front-runner, is a bit icy. The perception is that Brady got peeved when chatter built earlier this year that Onorato might form a ticket with Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty—cutting out Saidel, a close friend to Brady. But Brady shrugged that off.

“We’re friends,” he said, “but I’ve got lots of friends.”

That little 135 sq mi patch of ground in the very south east corner of the state has a lot of balls. No matter if it does end up and all Philly ticket, we will not have to worry about corruption. They will never get elected.

This is perhaps the only Representative in the country who does the job part-time, and he conspires to knock his opponent off the ballot with technical challenges. Now he wants to drag the state Democratic ticket to his level. It’s no surprise Philadelphia is the poorest big city in the northeast.

In PA, Philly is in the south east. As for poorest, I think Camden NJ and Chester PA have it beat.

Saidel is the most corrupt politician running for office, he took payoffs to exert influence on city government. Vote Scott Conklin for Lt Governor

    Livingston,

In case you didn’t know Bob Brady is the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Printing, the Joint Committee on the Library, and the Committee on House Administration. Congressional Research Service also falls under the jurisdiction of the Joint Committee on the library if I’m not mistaken.

I can assure you that chairing three Committees is not a part time job. Among Brady’s biggest projects in his role as Chairman of House Administration was the building of the Capitol Visitor’s Center, a huge project that allows the American people to learn about the Capitol and Congress when they visit Washington. In addition he must work with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, the Chairwoman of the Leg. Branch Subcommittee in determining the resources needed by the Architect of the Capitol and maintainence of the House Office Buildings.

Bob Brady may be a back room dealer and not take the House floor much but I can assure you that he is no ‘part time’ Congressman. He wields power in Washington; he is a player in the House. Look no further than Vice President Biden’s recent fundraiser on his behalf as proof.

As per Bob Brady and his relationship with the State Democratic Party, the State Party would do well to take a few plays out of the Congressman’s play book from time to time. In another words once you have the swine (Republicans) on the run you add more famrers to the chase and run the enemy into the ground.

Bite your tongue on Brady, Livingston.

Yes, he’s an outstanding congressman, that’s why he has to knock an unfunded Republican off the ballot. I suppose that’s also why his district is likely to be eliminated in 2010, as well. Your use of “swine” is certainly consistent with your hero’s use of the English language which can only be described as embarrassing.

In the past when a Republican was on the ballot they never could garner more than 17% of the vote. He must keep his constituents happy some how.

If the swine win can win enough votes to turn the state house into a pig pen then you may be on point. Doubt it.

Does Bob Brady even work in DC at all? He’s mostly doing his deals in Philly.
