New ad pressures Dahlkemper to vote against health care reform

Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (D-3) is being targeted by a new ad campaign urging her to vote against health care reform legislation.

The League of American Voters, which announced the ad buy Monday, said it was focused in the Erie media market. Dahlkemper voted in favor of the health care reform legislation that passed the House late last year.

Citing sagging public opinion of the reform legislation making its way through Congress, the ad says that “Pelosi and Obama are at it again, and they want Dahlkemper as the deciding vote, in a last minute deal to takeover your health care.”

Numerous Republicans are vying for a chance to take on the freshman congresswoman, who was one of several Pennsylvania Democrats identified as having very centrist voting records in a new National Journal study. Dahlkemper’s office drew attention to that study Monday.

“There have been many tough votes this past year,” Dahlkemper said in a statement, “and members of Congress are on the receiving end of a lot of pressure to stay on one side of the aisle or the other. I made a promise to the people of western Pennsylvania not to work for a political party, but to advocate for their interests and find practical, common sense solutions to the challenges facing our region. I take that promise very seriously and work every day to keep it.”

Vote for healthcre reform with a Public Option.. It’s time to put an end to this disgrace of a system we are forced to live with in this country.. Health insurance companies have pillaged America for far too long.. How many more Americans have to lose everything they own or just die while health insurance companies make billions and deny or make coverage too expensive.. Do what’s right.. Support healthcare reform with a Public Option.

Honorable Congresswomen Daulkemper, I am urging you to vote no on the Senate Health Care Bill. We cannot afford to pass this bill. It has taxpayer money to be used for abortions, which I am opposed to.It will strap my children and grandchildren with unimaginable debt for years to come. It may even destroy our economey. Please vote no.

Please vote against the current health reform proposal. Having one group of people pay for another group’s medical costs is not health reform. Actions that would be true health reform:
    - remove limitations on pre-existing conditions for people who maintain coverage
    - provide tax deductions for health insurance and out of pocket medical costs
    - break down barriers so health insurance can be sold competitively across state lines
    -tort reform
    - allow importing legal prescription drugs from other countries including Canada
