Montgomery County & Philadelphia’s 8th Ward Endorse Joe Hoeffel for Governor
By JOE HOEFFEL 2010
March 12, 2010 – Democratic committee members in Philadelphia’s 8th Ward and Pennsylvania’s 3rd largest county – Montgomery County – voted last night to endorse Joe Hoeffel for governor of Pennsylvania.
The Eighth Ward located in Center City, Philadelphia, is another a key ward to endorse Hoeffel. Last month Hoeffel was endorsed by the 9th ward, another high performing progressive Philadelphia ward.
8th Ward Leader Stephanie Singer said, “The Eighth Ward has always loved Joe’s values and his ability to work with Republicans to get things done. And last night he added a dimension by reminding us how, and how often, progressive Democrats win statewide races.”
Later yesterday evening Hoeffel attended the Montgomery County Democratic Committee endorsement meeting in Plymouth Meeting where he received overwhelming support.
Marcel Groen, chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee said, “This endorsement vote clearly shows that Joe Hoeffel continues to have strong support from Democratic committee members. We know he’ll be a great leader for the commonwealth.”
Hoeffel is currently a Montgomery County commissioner and served three terms in Congress in addition to serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
