LEFTOVERS: Endorsements for Onorato, Wagner, Trivedi & Bucchianeri
A truckload of endorsements dropped for Democrats toward the end of this week. We also made a couple errors you can read about here.
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato got more labor backing, this time from the Johnstown Building and Construction Trades, an umbrella for numerous local unions. In a statement Thursday, Trades secretary and treasurer Jim Hollis said “we have seen firsthand Dan’s compassion for the working men and women of our area”
“We have every reason to expect that his compassion will carry over into the Governor’s office,” Hollis said.
Meanwhile, Onorato’s gubernatorial rival Jack Wagner won another local party endorsement, when the Beaver County Democratic Committee backed him Friday.
“The committee chose to back Jack because they believe he is the strongest candidate to win in November,” county party chair Mike Sisk said in a statement. “The values he holds, the successes he’s had throughout his career, and his knowledge and experience in local and state government makes him the best candidate to hold onto the Governor’s mansion and lead Pennsylvania forward.”
And even though 6th District Democratic hopeful Manan Trivedi has seen the vast majority of organized labor endorsements in the race go to primary opponent Doug Pike, Trivedi was able to score one Friday when the Iron Workers Local 401 backed him.
“Manan Trivedi is the only candidate in this race who has created and released a comprehensive jobs plan, and has demonstrated to our membership that he understands the needs of working families,” union secretary treasurer Joseph Dougherty said in a statement. “We need more members of Congress like Manan who will stand up and put forth ideas that matter and get our economy moving in the right direction again. I am confident that Manan will serve us well.”
And lastly, 12th District Democratic underdog Ryan Bucchianeri got a national-profile boost Friday when he was endorsed by the National Organization for Women. The organization’s power political action committee could help Bucchianeri in his under-funded race against endorsed Democrat Mark Critz.
“You have strongly voiced your concerns for increasing women’s rights and equality,” NOW’s PAC chair Terry O’Neill said in a letter to Bucchianeri. “NOW/PAC is proud to endorse those candidates who are leaders in the struggle to achieve full equality for women and girls.”

Good going for Ryan.
NOW has probably been waiting a long time for a candidate they liked in that district.
