Johnson’s the big winner in ballot position

Johnson’s the big winner in ballot position

Ballot position doesn’t matter much in high-profile races where voters are deluged with advertising and apt to pay attention.

But in the below-the-radar contest for Lieutenant Governor, being the first name people see in the voting booth could prove a bit more useful. If it does, Republican Steve Johnson will be the beneficiary.

Johnson, a York County businessman, is one of nine Republicans running for Lt. Gov., and when ballot positions were determined by lottery this week, Johnson won the top spot. Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley, the state GOP’s endorsed candidate, drew the fifth spot, right in the middle of the pack.

In the nationally-watched Democratic Senate primary, Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) will be above Senator Arlen Specter on the ballot. Conservative activist Peg Luksik will top the ballot over likely GOP Senate nominee Pat Toomey.

In the Democratic primary for governor, Dan Onorato will be the first name on the ballot, followed by Jack Wagner, Anthony Williams and Joe Hoeffel. Likely GOP nominee Tom Corbett will top the ballot over Sam Rohrer.

Saw Johnson at Philly Freedom Fest 2 weeks ago. Strong candidate and he really seems like a regular guy, not a politician at all. He’s got my vote no matter where his name is.

Steve Johnson has been to Pike County about a dozen times… Cawley must not know where Pike County is on a map since every time he is invited we never get a response of any kind.

Johnson will easily win Pike County, and probably Wayne, with Watkins out of the race.

Corbett-Watkins: Not the ticket the “old-guard” wanted but probably the ticket they are going to get.
