Joe the Plumber endorses Ryan in the 17th
Republican Frank Ryan got a celebrity boost in his bid to take on Congressman Tim Holden (D-17) Thursday, from none other than the famous “Joe the Plumber.”
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, who improbably emerged as a conservative icon after John McCain mentioned him repeatedly during a 2008 presidential debate, said Ryan, a retired Marine Colonel, has “outstanding qualifications for public office.”
“I am looking nationwide for candidates who reflect conservative values and whose personal record of service shows they can be trusted to serve us—and not themselves—when elected,” Wurzelbacher said in a statement. “Frank Ryan embodies all these qualities and more.”
In an interview with pa2010.com, Ryan said the endorsement shows he’s serious about helping “disenfranchised” citizens.
“I view Joe’s endorsement as meaning that we want to bring the disenfranchised Americans back into the fold,” he said. “It’s all a part of this process that state and federal leaders have forgotten who they work for. We want to get the district back for the citizens and get America back on track.”
Ryan is one of several Republicans, including state Senator Dave Argall (R-Schuylkill), seeking the party’s nomination in the 17th District.

Millions of sane people don’t care what Joe the (unlicensed) plumber has to say. News at 11.

Hey Joe, I’ve got a backed up sink! Will you fix it?

Sorry, Brett, Joe’s not qualified to fix a sink. Besides, he’s too busy trying to extend his 15 minutes of fame by traveling around the country endorsing candidates in the hope that one of them –any one – wins and gives him a job.

Lee Levan-
Is that the 15 minutes of fame that he’s been complaining about because it was thrust on him and he shied away and told the news people that he had no comment?

Diano:
Joe Wurzebacher is a tea party guy.
I agree with you (for once) that Ryan’s career will now rip into high with his support!
But do you think Worlezbker will endorse Sestak and Critz too?

Hey Ed
On what planet have you been spending most of your time? Non-Joe the non-plumber doesn’t end up traveling the country and attending events and speaking at them and endorsing candidates and giving interviews to the media involuntarily. Any protestations to the contrary by Non-Joe are crocodile tears.

What Joe the Plumber does is bring PR to a campaign. Like him or not he is news worthy and help raise campaign funds. I also find it typical of Liberals/Progressives (if that is what you want to be called) that they attack him personally. You don’t need a license to be a plumber in his state or many others. Stick to the issues (but you have to tell the truth) and you may have a chance in November.

You are exactly right. Joe brings PR to a campaign. By doing so, going public and making statements in favor of a candidiate, he can’t expect to be exempt from criticism for what he holds himself out to be. He’s the one who chose to place himself on the political stage.
I never met the man; so I can’t say a word about him personally. But he chooses to bill himself, or allow candidiates to bill him, as Joe the Plumber. That means it’s NOT a personal matter.

Frank Ryan is exactly who we need for Congress – he has helped businesses avoid bankruptcy. With his expertise, his experience in running a business, his integrity, his commitment to serve our country – he’s got the qualifications desparately needed for this office.
