Gleason passes on a chance to hit Critz—for now

LATROBE—The wide-eyed smile on GOP chairman Rob Gleason’s face made clear that he’s relishing going up against Democrat Mark Critz in the 12th District special election.

But held off on the criticism for now, content to make the race to succeed John Murtha about notional issues.

“I’m not so sure it matters who their candidate is,” Gleason told pa2010.com before his party met to select its candidate Thursday night. “This is an election about Democrats versus Republicans, and the policies of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.”

Questions have been raised about Critz’s past business associations, and Gleason was obviously looking forward to learning more. But he passed on a chance to attack the man his party will soon take on full-throttle.

“We’ll see about Mark Critz,” Gleason said. “I didn’t even know Mark Critz. I live in Johnstown, and I never met him.

“No matter what Critz stands for, the battle lines were already drawn,” he added. “Whether it was Critz, [Barbara] Hafer or any of them, it’s about the policies in Washington.”

He also took issue with the widespread perception that he and Bill Russell—the candidate who many expect to lose to Tim Burns Thursday night—have often been at logger-heads.

“I supported Bill Russell when he ran [in 2008],” Gleason said. “No matter what he says, I supported him.”

Someone needs to tell Gleason this election isn’t about him! And no, the nation is not watching you, Rob, or Burns. And why is the GOP nominating Burns, besides the fact that Gleason is hoping he self funds the race. Not the reason we should ever pick a candidate

    Either Tim Burns doesn

Tim Burns doesn’t vote consistently. If he can’t show up in crucial elections for our Republican candidates, he shouldn’t expect Republicans to show up for him. According to official records, Tim Burns didn’t vote in the 2000 Presidential election (Bush v. Gore), the 2002 General election (Rendell v. Fisher), or the 2004 Republican primary (Specter v. Toomey).

Either Tim Burns doesn’t care about Republican causes or even worse, he’s just a RINO.
Tim Burns isn’t 100% committed to protecting life. In an interview with a conservative radio show, Burns said he wasn’t sure if he’d support a Constitutional Amendment that clearly says life begins at conception. Tim Burns hasn’t ever been there for our Republican candidates. The multi-millionaire has opened up his pocketbook for all but 1 Republican candidate over the years when he gave a measly $1,000 to Rick Santorum in 2006. Where was he for the countless other Republican candidates we’ve all been working our tails off for so many years now?

Tim Burns supports a new national sales tax! He supports a national sales tax of 23 percent on everything we purchase. But the new tax would actually be 34 percent for the federal government to take in the same amount of taxes it does today.

Don’t we pay enough in federal taxes. We can’t afford Tim Burns plan to create a new national sales tax!

Burns has NEVER mentioned a national sales tax. That is a fabrication on the billrussellforcongress.com website. A site that no one has the nerve to admit to owning. Seems that site is just a facade for Russell to sling some mud. The internet is a wild place, anyone can make up lies and post them as fact.
