BURNS WINS REPUBLICAN NOMINATION IN PA-12 SPECIAL ELECTION
By TIM BURNS FOR CONGRESS
Latrobe, PA – Tim Burns released the following statement accepting the Republican nomination
for the Special Election for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 12th District:
A year ago, I decided to run for Congress because like many Americans, I was alarmed by
government bailouts, out-of-control spending and unwillingness by leaders in Washington to
stop mortgaging our children’s future. I am not a politician, and I don’t pretend to know how
government works because I don’t believe it does.
Tonight, I am honored to be the Republican nominee for Congress in this Special Election, and I
am grateful for the support and confidence the conferees have placed in me. I bring to this race
experience as a businessman who knows what it takes to cut spending and create jobs. I’m also a
conservative who believes in lower taxes and a father who is passionate about protecting all our
children’s future.
Over the next two months, I look forward to traveling to the communities in all nine counties and
sharing my ideas about how we fix our broken system of government, eliminate our deficit,
reduce our debt, and get our economy moving again. Voters have a clear choice between a
government insider who will side with the liberals in Washington and someone from outside
Washington who will work to fix our broken system of government.
On May 18th voters will be asked to decide if they want to shake up Washington by voting for a
reformer or protect the status quo by promoting a career government bureaucrat. If they want
lower taxes and less spending by electing a businessman who knows how to create jobs or bigger
government by choosing an Washington insider who will vote to put bureaucrats in charge of
healthcare and for more anti-coal, anti-jobs taxes.
