We’re ready to get to work
The race for the Governor’s Mansion and the U.S. Senate officially became a sprint last weekend, as members of the Republican State Committee voted to endorse Pat Toomey for Senate, Tom Corbett for Governor and Jim Cawley for Lieutenant Governor.
The meeting, which lasted from 9 a.m. into the afternoon, capped off an exciting weekend that was shown on PCN. From a forum for Lt. Gov. candidates Friday afternoon to forums for the senate and gubernatorial candidates later that evening, from our Lincoln Day dinner to the entire winter meeting the next day, last weekend marked a new milestone for the state party’s commitment to transparency and openness.
It’s a commitment that party chairman Rob Gleason has made one of the hallmarks of his tenure. Prior to his election as chairman, the state Republican Party’s general meetings rarely ever saw roll-call votes, as new business was gaveled in and out as quickly as the meeting was called to order.
But under Chairman Gleason’s leadership, the decisions on who to endorse—or even whether to endorse at all—have been placed back into the hands of our elected state party members.
The fact that Toomey, Corbett and Cawley were endorsed through such an open and transparent process makes their candidacies stronger.
In the days and weeks ahead, the Republican Party of Pennsylvania will be working hard to elect our statewide ticket. All in all, the weekend was a great success and our party is entergized to win a number of critical races this year.
Though the finish line may be months away, we’re ready to get to work.

Your process was commendable, the meeting was efficient. The public deserve options, not necessarily your choices. You deserve to be primaried. I’m sure you can appreciate that and prepare accordingly and hopefully, fairly.
