Sestak Fails to Garner Chester County Endorsement
By ARLEN SPECTER FOR SENATE
West Chester — Cong. Joe Sestak failed to gain the endorsement of the Chester County Democratic Committee at their Convention today, despite the fact that his 7th Congressional District includes significant portions of the County.
Sestak’s home area
failure comes two weeks after the Democratic State Committee of Pennsylvania overwhelmingly endorsed Senator Arlen Specter by a 77-23% margin.
Andy Diniman, Chester County’s Democratic State Senator, spearheaded the Specter campaign’s Convention efforts.
A candidate needed 55% of the vote to get the endorsement; Specter received 49%.
During his campaign Sestak has continually stated that endorsements don’t matter and has criticized the Democratic Party’s endorsement procedures and its leaders, but yet continues to vie for party endorsements.
“Sestak’s failure to win the endorsement in his home area is another sign that his campaign is faltering,” said Specter’s campaign manager Christopher Nicholas.
