Off-the-cuff with Jonathan Saidel
WEST CHESTER—Leave it Jonathan Saidel to keep things lighthearted.
The former Philadelphia City Controller has continued to traverse the state in recent days to court the endorsements of local Democratic parties, even as he increasingly looks like a lock to win the primary. After winning the support of the Chester County Democratic Committee here Saturday—on a voice vote as the only candidate nominated for consideration—Saidel treated local committee members to the kind of off-the-cuff riffing that’s quickly becoming the highlight of otherwise monotonous party meetings.
“I got more votes in Philadelphia than Ed Rendell, but don’t tell him, he’ll call me,” Saidel said to laughter. “I still get more votes than he does.”
But it was his closer, in which he referred to GOP gubernatorial front-runner Tom Corbett, that got the most laughs.
“I’m am not going to let my daughter live to see a governor named Corbett,” Saidel said. “All the folks running for governor are nice guys. I’m not. I’m from Philly!”

He was aptly described as a buffoon.
There is another candidate in this race.
