Mike Fitzpatrick issues challenge to Patrick Murphy
By MIKE FITZPATRICK FOR CONGRESS
Langhorne, PA – Mike Fitzpatrick issued the following statement on the campaign finance report issued by Congressman Patrick Murphy:
“Patrick Murphy’s campaign finance report certainly reflects a commitment from Washington special interests and individuals living outside Pennsylvania to keeping him in office. Almost two thirds of his commitments come from political action committees, lobbyists and outside interests. This year I think people deserve a different kind of campaign.
I am issuing a challenge to Mr. Murphy, and all candidates in this race, that we agree in 2010 to cap spending at one million dollars per campaign. By limiting the obscene spending typical of high profile congressional campaigns we can show respect to the residents of the 8th District who are, in many cases, struggling just to make ends meet. Certainly I have demonstrated that I can raise the funds necessary to compete in the district, however I hope that Patrick Murphy will agree that this limit would demonstrate the fiscal responsibility often espoused by candidates but rarely practiced by politicians.”

What sort of spending limits is Mr Fitzpatrick going to ask for in the Primary? I will start the bidding at $100,000. I would also ask when is he going to agree to “real” debates with candidates like Gloria Carlineo and not just “forums”. Mr Fitzpatrick needs to be challenged in the primary and explain his votes in favor of cap & trade, card check, not drilling in ANWR, etc…
This link is to his old website where he proudly announces his cosponsoring of cap & trade with Henry Waxman.

Maybe PA2010 blogger Beth Hegedus, a Fitzpatrick supporter cares to speak to these positions?
