Chris Doherty’s wife wants you to read pa2010.com
We have to admit getting a kick out of this.
With increasing speculation that Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty could join Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato on a gubernatorial ticket, The Times-Tribune reports that Doherty’s wife Donna sent an interesting e-mail out to some of her friends.
The subject? An online poll about the subject currently running on our very own pa2010.com.
“As many of you know, Chris (my husband) is running for governor,” Mrs. Doherty wrote. “There is a poll out today, and only today, about an Onorato/Doherty ticket. Please go to pa2010.com and cast a vote to say yes. This would make a terrific ticket. Please spread the word to as many people as you can. The momentum is building in Chris’ favor!”
She was referring to our poll that asks readers what they think of the possible ticket, which, despite her sense of urgency, is still up and running. Anyway, we couldn’t help but notice that votes in favor of the ticket surged in the last couple days. So looks like it worked, Mrs. Doherty.
Meanwhile, a knowledgeable source told pa2010.com Central that Doherty and Onorato had a meeting Wednesday in downtown Philadelphia at The Capital Grille. If true, this would cut against a statement by Onorato that he’s not involved in any talks. But Doherty spokesman Mark Nevins insists that there was no meeting, saying the two candidates just happened to be in the restaurant at the same time and said hello. Our source says “this wasn’t something where they just noticed each other from across the restaurant.” But Capital Grille is a popular power-lunch spot for politicos doing business in Philly—so we’re going to take Nevins at his word for now.

Jeanine,
Your skepticism is understandable. I share it. One of the reasons I’m taking him at his word is because the candidates were in the area for a local party committee meeting, I believe in Bucks County.
I should have mentioned this in the post.
Still, I get do get your skepticism.

I dont believe momentum is moving in Doherty’s favor. This is a publicity stunt trying to force Onorato into taking Doherty along for the ride.Doherty is very low on funds.Mrs Doherty’s urgency is more like desperation on her part. This shows favoritism I also have not seen any other polls for any other canidates. This would be a diaster for Onorato to take Doherty with him.I for one would vote Republican of Onorato takes Doherty.

Somewhat off topic but i dont get is how an email the wife sent to friends became public. First the reporter should have ignored it, secondly that person should be outed so family knows they cannot trust this person

Onorato and Doherty were in Doylestown Feb 3 to speak before the Bucks County Democratic Executive Committee.
