Big-time corporate execs to join Toomey at fundraiser

Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey will get help from executives for some of the country’s biggest corporations Wednesday at a fundraiser in Washington.

An invitation to the event hosted by the political action committee for Caterpillar, the construction equipment manufacturer, describes Toomey as “positioned to be one of the most pro-business, pro-growth members of the Senate.” The invitation e-mail, along with a long list of corporate e-mail addresses, made the rounds on the blogosphere late Tuesday after a Democratic operative in Washington passed it along to reporters and bloggers, clearly trying to push the message that Toomey is tied to big business.

Included on the invite list are executives from Halliburton, ExxonMobile, Chevron, Wal-Mart and Toyota, which is currently under congressional scrutiny for safety problems in its cars.

“The fundraiser tomorrow is just another example of how Toomey is in the tank for the moneyed DC special interests,” Michael Czin, a Democratic National Committee spokesman, told The Morning Call. “Pennsylvanians need someone who will stand up to the special interests not a lap dog like Pat Toomey who’s willing to just roll over and play dead to any special interest with a big enough checkbook.”

A spokeswoman for Toomey shot back, saying that “Pat’s proud of his pro-business, pro-job creation record, but no one should forget that when it came to putting taxpayers on the hook for bailing out failing banks and car companies, Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak both voted ‘yes,’ and Pat Toomey strongly said ‘no.’”

And the disturbing thing is that Sestak is supporting this guy Toomey and giving him attention by having a debate and drinking some beers with him again.

Seems like Sestak and Toomey have a lot in common when it comes to their love of large corporations and cash doesnt it?

Specter is definitely right about this.

If Toomey were to become Senator would he be referred to as

Pat Toomey (R – Wall Street)

    WestPADem6,

I’m not sure why a large corporation is somehow bad? Isn’t that the goal of every corporation – to become so successful that it becomes large? It must mean they are providing a good or service people want. If you are invested in the market, I suspect that you own stock in at least one large coroporation. Do you write to the CEO asking him or her to make sure the company remains small?

Say what you want, but the fact is, Toomey opposed the corporate bailouts which Specter and Sestak supported.

    Shock & Awe,

When Pat becomes Senator, he will be a friend to taxpayers. It was OUR money that Senator Specter and Congressman Sestak so eagerly provided to corporations for bailouts – how big of them! Toomey has repeatedly expressed his oppostition to the bailouts.

Toomey in a Romp!!!!! Against either the Embalmed Specter or the Embattled Sestak!!!!

And hey, Mike Czin, the true moneyed DC special interests in reality are those who are proponents of A LARGER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Pat Toomey stands for the individual liberties and freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, which includes the right to operate in the realm of commerce.

Hearing any Democrat talk about the GOP and Wall St makes me puke. They are in bed with Wall Street and BigPharm. All of these liberal clowns voted for the bailouts and the Pharm companies spent $50 million on tv ads to back ObamaCare. The Democrats are the party of Wall St, BigPharm, special interests, and lobbyists. They love the money, but hate to admit it. Pathetic.

    I would settle for

    Pat Toomey (R – Halliburton)

One thing i disdain is corporations like wal-marts reliance on corporate welfare, and reckless ability to sell lead paint toys from china to our children and grandchildren, while some corporate slob pretends everything is fine.

Pat Toomey will lower taxes for the corporations and their executives so that the middle class working guys will have to pick up the tab for the welfare handouts to those wealthy contributors to his campaign.

Toomey couldn’t have voted for the bailout even if he wanted to. He was out of office since 05′. Reps voted to allow wall st. to gamble back in the early 2000′s. And “give me a break” where were you when the GOP voted for the donut hole for senoirs. That didn’t help out bigpharm right truth hurts.

The bailout worked it was the only thing that George Bush did right. It’s in the past and Bank&and trading refrom is in the future. Toomey wouldn’t be for more regs on wall street that’s for sure.

Pat Toomey’s voting record speaks for itself – he doesn’t care about the little guy, he’s only concerned with lining the pockets of his Wall Street buddies. On social issues, he’s still ridiculously conservative. The man is more conservative than Rick Santorum. We said no to Santorum and we’ll say no to Toomey.

The Supreme Court should not have overturned the law barring corporations from making political contributions.
