2012 Watch: Santorum stumping, an opponent for Casey

In politics, it’s never too  early to start thinking about the future. And so, former Senator Rick Santorum has been on the 2012 presidential circuit, with appearances in Iowa, New Hampshire and, of course, the Conservative Political Action Conference last weekend.

“Against the advice of my wife,” Santorum said during his address to the conference Saturday, “I endorsed Arlen Specter.”

He responded to the boos with a folksy “My sentiments exactly!”

“How many times have I said this in my 20-plus years of marriage?” he said. “I should have listened to my wife.”

Santorum’s not the only one getting ready for the next cycle. Brooks Estadt, an insurance agent who lives near Scranton, appears to be the first Republican throwing his hat into the ring against Senator Bob Casey in 2012. Estadt was thinking about running this year. “But I kept being told I was starting too late,” he told pa2010.com.

He had a full-fledged campaign Web site online earlier this month, but it’s since been taken down and will go back online, he said, after some errors are corrected.

Santorum is Darth Vader, no way for president, he is dangerous for civil liberties and personal freedom

Pennsylvania retired Santorum for his crazy views so forget about running for office again.

I hope he wins the nomination just so the Republican base and their tea bagger buddies are shown for the fringers they are.

Santorum wants to be elect “man-on-dog” catcher.

Has anyone met Brooks Estadt? I met him at the NEPA GOP caucus where he was claiming to be a candidate against Toomey in the primary. Brooks seems like nice guy but I doubt he could win a local race for Township Supervisor… no way he could win a race for U.S. Senator.

I would vote for Santorum over Casey. Casey is a freakin’ nutcase that won’t even strip funding from ACORN. I don’t care where Santorum lives, anyone is better than Casey. Hell, I’d vote for Rendell over Casey. Well, maybe not.

The crazy thing is that Pat Toomey is even MORE conservative than Rick Santorum. I know – I didn’t think it was possible, but the American Conservative Union gave Santorum an 88 or something and Toomey a 97.

Santorum and Toomey are way too conservative for a moderate state like Pennsylvania.

    Frank-
ACORN got a bump rap on that whole hidden video thing. The local Philly branch did call the cops, but you don’t hear FoxNews reporting that part. There are also claims that the video is edited, with parts showing the workers thought it was a gag removed.
I’m actually quite proud of Casey for standing up for ACORN and I even made it a point to attend one of his fundraisers thank him for his vote.

    Greg K-
Most people don’t know how conservative Toomey is. Joe’s treating him like his beer buddy, with whom he has some minor disagreements.
Since Toomey’s painting Sestak as some far Left radical (which Joe thinks helps him in the primary), Toomey is laying the ground work to undercut Joe’s arguments that Toomey is radical. Toomey can pretend that the middle is too radical for Joe.
Specter is better positioned to fight from the center, and show Toomey as what’s wrong with the GOP.
