On the Republican side, it seems that it will be between Tim Burns and Bill Russell and from what I have been hearing the process will be free and fair although suspicions remain. I now have had opportunity to hear from Ben Wren and Luke Bernstein, both of whom I trust and both of whom are truthful, that the State Committee packets were not filled in advance. Luke and Ben were the worker bees, on the ground, filling the packets with pre-printed petitions. So, what appeared to be evidence of pre-determined outcome, rigging, on further investigation, is incorrect.
There were telephone calls and some “strong arming”, that is, very heated conversations but, as far as I can tell, the result had not been pre-determined.

However, it is, also, true that the rumors that Jim Cawley would be the endorsed Lt. Gov. candidate turned out to be true. The southeast caucus seems to have conducted itself as it has in the past.

A Corbett Cawley ticket may be deadly for the Republicans. Rick Santorum had 797,000 fewer voters in 2006 than 2000, and fewer votes in every county in 2006 than 2000. The state party has not fully recognized the level of disenchantment by rank and file who are reacting to years of dissembling. It may be time to try a new tactic: Full Disclosure, No Surprises. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.There are those getting rich from government and it may not be a winning strategy to rely on their leadership in this environment.

There is a reason there is a vibrant and strong Tea Party movement.

The article says Hafer is the first Dem to declare for the SPECIAL ELECTION. Bucchianeri declared his candidacy for the SPECIAL ELECTION months before Murtha’s death? That was clever of him.

Why do you keep ignoring Bucchianeri for PA 12? Even in the article above you state “On Monday, pa2010.com reported that former state auditor general and treasurer Barbara Hafer had become the first Democrat to declare he candidacy for the soon-to-be-scheduled special election after Murtha’s death last week.” That is not true. Bucchianeri officially declared his candidacy months ago, BEFORE Murtha passed away. Look at your polls…you better get on the ball and shed some light on Bucchianeri!
