Toomey camp says it has $2.8M
Republican Pat Toomey’s campaign raised more than $1.6 million in the last quarter of 2009, giving the presumptive GOP Senate nominee almost $2.8 million in cash on hand at the end of the year, his campaign manager said Wednesday.
The early numbers, to be detailed in campaign finance reports filed at the end of the month, mean that Toomey has raised almost $5 million during the cycle. Even in the absence of a competitive primary, he has been spending heavily to put together reams of voter and donor information, but his expenditures appear to have leveled off somewhat; he may be starting to save his resources for what promises to be an expensive general election fight.
Toomey had about $1.8 million on hand at the end of the third quarter, meaning he spent about $600,000 during the last quarter, still a considerable sum but less than the $860,000 he spend during the third quarter.
Toomey’s campaign manager said the contributions had come from more than 30,000 donors. The fourth-quarter numbers on the same day that yet another poll showed Toomey building a lead over both his potential general election opponents.

Only $2.8 million on hand?
Sestak has nearly double that, now. Heck, Sestak ended his 2008 congressional election with more than that in the bank.
Specter must have about 4 times that amount in the bank.
If Sestak really gives a rat’s ass about Dems, he could dump the $5 million into negative ads against Toomey. Take the heat for going negative, and just ignore the primary completely (no GOTV, signs, etc.). Toomey doesn’t have enough money to do advertising yet.
Specter with his $10 million can put the final nails in Toomey’s political coffin in the fall.

If you happened to get a fundraising appeal (I guess by accident) from Pat Toomey, you’d quickly realize what real purpose Arlen Specter serves for Toomey: his chief fundraiser and volunteer recruiter.

Money isn’t needed to motivate a furious citizenry and Toomey has plenty of that to unseat Arlen Spector.

*Yawn* Toomey is another guy with no ideas to help this country get back on track. Maybe someone should tell him that there is more to good government than just cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans.

Kevin-
Toomey will make for a bigger fundraiser and recruiting tool for Specter.
Toomey’s like the Emperor to Santorum’s Darth Vader.
Specter can be Yoda.

A lot of money will be needed by Toomey if Specter doesn’t have to worry about Sestak and can spend his money defining Toomey.

If you tell Toomey that, you might want to warm up with cluing him in on the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus to see if he can handle reality.
