Scranton Federation of Teachers Endorses Senator Arlen Specter

By ARLEN SPECTER FOR SENATE

Scranton – The Scranton chapter of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) voted to endorse Senator Arlen Specter.

The 900-member Scranton Federation of Teachers represents teachers and health care professionals in the city.

“We are proud to stand with Sen. Specter because he has stood with us to improve public education in Pennsylvania,” said Rosemary Boland, President of the Scranton Federation of Teachers. “We are excited to endorse his re-election.”

Specter thanked the teachers for their endorsement. “I welcome this important endorsement from the Scranton Federation of Teachers as it will boost my already strong campaign in northeast Pennsylvania,” said Specter. “I’ve worked for many years in the Senate to boost education funding, including Pell Grants and Head Start, because education is our most important capital asset. I look forward to working with Federation President Boland and her members on my campaign and toward our mutual goal of improving the education system in the state.”

Yesterday the 77,000 member strong Philadelphia Building Trades Council unanimously endorsed Senator Specter’s re-election.
