Rizzo: ‘I bring Philadelphia’

Philadelphia City Councilman Frank Rizzo Jr. doesn’t think it’s too late to be ramping up a campaign for Lieutenant Governor.

After months of mostly silence and before he appears at two regional caucuses this weekend, Rizzo, a Republican, said that city law coupled with a broken ankle had forced him to lay low recently. He’s has to quit his City Council seat when he starts circulating nominating petitions next month—”I’m the only [candidate] who’s require to resign,” Rizzo said. And fracturing his ankle around Christmas, he said, “slowed me down a bit.”

But he’s feeling better now. And even though his home caucus in the southeast already endorsed Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley, Rizzo says he’s confident he can make up any ground.

“At the end of the day, Tom Corbett’s going to make the decision, and he’s going to listen to the caucuses,” Rizzo told pa2010.com in a phone interview. “I bring the balance. I bring Philadelphia. And tom Corbett needs Philadelphia in a big way.”

Well with that simple statement. Rizzo ruined his statewide chances. Thanks Frank.

And Cawley’s having a problem gaining traction statewide….he’s looks bought and paid by folks who ought not feel that way about a candidate….

The late, great Francis Lorenzo Rizzo could bring Philadelpia, Franny could not even bring a councilmanic district.

    To Lauren,

The first 3 minutes were solid. The rest of the video is so much like his campaign and the responses he has had in the past few days, disjointed and not ready for prime time….
NOT NOW at this level, not now at this time.

Cawley is the future, just not 2010.

    Dear Anonoumous,

Could not disagree more. Anyone can produce sleek videos with enough money, but being out there, engaged and active in the community is what matters. Making a difference in people’s lives everyday is the difference. Obama was packaged well and look what America got. The last thing we need. People want what is real not bought and paid for. Jim is a responsive member of the community with experience and is prepared. He is also not choosing to smear any other candidates as he is being smeared and distorted anonomously. Cawley is now.

Mr. Cawley is not ready. Not a smear, just an assessment shared by many.
