Really?

I’m usually very, very hesitant to be directly critical of statements made by candidates. But I have to admit that a dispatch from Pittsburgh, courtesy of our new reporter John Manganaro, really made me do a double-take.

John was covering endorsements that Joe Sestak got Monday. After the boilerplate endorsement stuff, John was talking to Sestak, and Sestak said that he’s “not paying attention” to Arlen Specter.

Really?

This is coming from a candidate who never, never misses an opportunity to criticize Specter, going on to do so in the very same interview with John.

There’s nothing wrong with being constantly and intensely critical of your opponent. This is politics.

But don’t pretend like you’re not paying attention to a guy you mention almost every day.
