Political dealings

Republicans have been complaining about the non-conference committee for health care, where the two bills (House and Senate) will be reconciled. They have repeatedly said this should be done out in the open.

Honestly, that won’t accomplish anything but a good feeling (putting aside the fact that this whole effort seems to be dying now anyway). After talking with some people that have been involved in such conference committees, the fact is this: The deals are made ahead of time behind closed doors, and then are surprisingly just agreed out of nowhere. Quite frankly, the way politics are today, we’re bound to be disappointed.

Also, one final note on Tom Knox. You know, there is a certain point where even if you have the money it isn’t worth it. Knox could have run for Treasurer last year and got some political experience on his resume. But he chose not to, and now, realizing the fact that statewide, you need the establishment to succeed, he’s pulling out.

I feel bad for the guy, but it’s his mistake.
