MLK Day appearances by the pols
Elected officials and 2010 hopefuls are out in force Monday to observe Martin Luther King Day.
Senator Arlen Specter is making a host of appearances, with a morning service at Triumph Baptist Church, continuing at state Representative Louise Bishop’s (D-Philadelphia) birthday celebration for Dr. King and an 11:30 a.m. ceremony at the Liberty Bell, and culminating with an annual luncheon hosted by the Martin Luther King Jr. Association for Nonviolence at a downtown Philadelphia hotel.
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, who’s seeking the Democratic nomination for governor, is also in Philadelphia Monday, with plans to appear at Girard College, St. Joseph’s University and the same ceremony at the Liberty Bell.
State Auditor General Jack Wagner, who’s also running for governor, and Senator Bob Casey will both be participating in the annual day of service honoring Dr. King.
And Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) attended the annual Martin Luther King Scholarship Gala on Saturday, where his campaign said the Senate hopeful was given the Martin Luther King Spirit Award “for his efforts to enhance Historically Black Colleges and Universities.”
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award named after the great Dr. King, who famously said ‘everybody can be great because anybody can serve,’” Sestak said in a statement. “Our nation is great because anybody can serve. The revolutionary principle that every individual can and must contribute to their fullest potential—no matter the station or circumstances of their birth—has been the source of our shared prosperity, ingenuity, diversity, and strength.”

Local HBCUs (Cheyney in particular) are teetering on the edge of collapse, financially and otherwise. How, precisely, has Charlatan Sestak enhanced them?! Ludicrous. Wonder if Margaret Infantino was in attendance. Or perhaps she busy consulting with her legal counsel.

Also spotted at MLK Day of Service ceremony in Doylestown yesterday, State Rep. Margueritte Quinn and Rob Mitchell, Congressional candidate for PA’s 8th District. Very moving and inspirational musical performances by the Second Baptist Church of Doylestown choir and youth dance ministry. An army of volunteers then went out to spend the day with charitable projects throughout the Central Bucks area. The largest group outside of Philadelphia!

HateSestak-If you want to make allegations and innuendos, perhaps you should have evidence first. Rumors are the worst aspect of the internet.

Hater-
Are you alleging willful illegal conduct, or just incompetent bookkeeping?
You really need to back up the accusations with some substance.
