In video, O’Brien’s just a regular guy
Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O’Brien released the first Web video of his congressional campaign on Wednesday, a six-and-half minute biography juxtaposing interviews with the 11th District hopeful with testimonials from people like the local high school coach and the mayor of his hometown.
The video, embedded above, was O’Brien’s first concerted attempt to define himself for voters, less than 16 weeks before he looks to unseat longtime incumbent Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-11) in a primary. It traces the arc of his political development from his efforts to bring a community center to Dunmore to his eventual run for count commissioner. Through the whole thing, it’s clear that O’Brien is looking to paint himself as just a regular guy, ready to fight against Wall Street. How successful he’ll be in getting that message out against a well-funded incumbent remains to be seen.
“This is a guy that can get some things done,” former Penn State University professor Alan Hughes, one of several people featured in the video, says at the end.
