EXCLUSIVE: Gerlach’s district director to run Meehan campaign

A longtime legislative and campaign aide to Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-6) has been tapped to run former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan’s campaign in the neighboring 7th District, according to a Republican familiar with the campaign’s decision.

Bryan Kendro, who is currently Gerlach’s district director, is expected to be announced as Meehan’s campaign manager early next week. His stint with Meehan will be his first as a campaign manager, but he has worked in various capacities on Gerlach’s previous House races. He has also served as Gerlach’s legislative director in Washington. While more recently familiar with the 6th District, he grew up in the 7th and is seen by party insiders as well-networked in the southeast in general.

Meehan’s senior adviser Vince Galko would not comment on Kendro specifically, saying only that the campaign “will be formally announcing our team very soon.”

In running his first campaign, Kendro will have his work cut out for him. The race to succeed incumbent Democrat Joe Sestak is considered one of the most competitive in the country. Meehan is likely to face state Representative Bryan Lentz (D-Delaware), the Democratic front-runner. He is currently unopposed in the GOP primary, but former Fox29 anchor Dawn Stensland is considering a run.

Pat Meehan’s experience in politics with integrity make him the perfect candidate to follow Joe Sestak in the 7th District. His stance against government corruption, health-care fraud, child safety on the internet, and his protection of those in nursing homes and homebuyers who have been ill-advised by lenders are just a few of the issues that show what kind of man Pat is. His experience in making the “right” decisions as Delaware County District Attorney, and as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania can not be overlooked. He is a great candididate with a great track record that will work hard for the citizens in the 7th District.
