County commissioners endorse Onorato
A dozen county commissioners from southwestern Pennsylvania threw their support behind Dan Onorato’s gubernatorial campaign Thursday, calling the Allegheny County Executive the “best choice” to revive Pennsylvania’s economy.
The endorsements added to Onorato’s growing support four months before the Democratic primary. His campaign said the officials represent almost half-a-million Democratic voters.
“Dan has a record of accomplishment, a commitment to reform and a focus on creating jobs that has served him well in Allegheny County and will serve the people of Pennsylvania well in Harrisburg,” Somerset County Commissioner Pam Tokar-Ickes said in a campaign statement.
Added Greene County Commissioner Pam Snyder: “Not only do we know what our counties need—we know how to win in our counties and we look forward to not only helping Dan win the primary, but also becoming Pennsylvania’s next Governor. His election is important for us, for our region and for the entire state of Pennsylvania.”
The other commissioners endorsing Onorato Thursday were Joe Spanik of Beaver County; Vince Zapotosky of Fayette County; Dave Coder of Greene County; Patricia Evanko of Indiana County; Rick DeBlasio and Steve Craig of Lawrence County; Larry Maggi and Bracken Burns of Washington County; and Tom Balya and Tom Ceraso of Westmoreland County.

Creating jobs?
According to the Department of Labor, Allegheny County has lost more than twenty thousand jobs just in the last twelve months. There are sixty seven counties in the state and only one county lost more jobs than Allegheny County. That county was Philadelphia and they also lost twenty thousand jobs. Together, the two counties lost twenty percent of all jobs lost in the last year.
Onorato’s taxes and wasted spending have crushed jobs.
