Conservatives get mobilized in 8th District
According to Liz Sidoti of The Associated Press, 2010 could be a tough year for the Democratic Party. In her recent story she reported that “four House Democrats from swing districts have recently chosen not to seek re-election, bringing to 11 the number of retirements that could leave Democratic-held seats vulnerable to Republicans. More Democratic retirements are expected. Many independents who backed Democrats in 2006 and 2008 have turned away. Republicans, meanwhile, are energized and united in opposing Obama’s policies.”
In Pennsylvania, there is renewed passion and optimism, especially with the explosion of the tea party movement. Nowhere is that energy more evident than among Bucks County’s Kitchen Table Patriots, a tea party movement that is gaining credibility with every passing day.
In Bucks County alone—where Patrick Murphy withstood defeat since his razor-thin victory over Mike Fitzpatrick in 2006 during a very anti-Republican year—there are well over half-a-dozen candidates that have expressed interest in challenging him in the general election.
That means Murphy and his compatriots could be singing a different tune come November 3, 2010—and it doesn’t matter who plays basketball with President Obama. There is so much activity and passion in Bucks County, not just because of the tea party movement, which is sizable, but because many people who bought the story and voted for change are now expressing buyer’s remorse with what is going on in Washington.
To show the importance of the tea party/conservative movement in Bucks County, a debate forum is scheduled with nine of the Republican congressional candidates next Monday at 7 p.m. at the Council Rock South High School, moderated by Steve Highsmith. This forum, sponsored by the Kitchen Table Patriots, will feature candidates who have officially announced their intention of running against Patrick Murphy in November. The event is free and open to the public. Check it out.

Mike Fitz should be at the debate tonight. If he isn’t, he doesn’t get my money, support, or vote. This coming from someone who despises Murphy as my Congressman.

Terra Firma — I was at the debate and I met some great patriots. Let’s talk in six months about how you feel. Remember, overnight is politics is a lifetime.
