In the latest volley of a day-long fight between Doug Pike and Manan Trivedi over abortion, Trivedi’s campaign insisted Tuesday night that the Reading doctor has always opposed the Stupak amendment to federal health care reform legislation, which would expand restrictions to abortion access.

“He has never supported it,” Trivedi spokesman Daren Berringer said in a statement.

Pike wants ‘reasoned discussion’

The fight over abortion between the two Democratic candidates in the 6th District continued late Tuesday, with Doug Pike’s campaign decrying Manan Trivedi’s attack and pressuring him to take a clear position on the Stupak amendment.
