How will Dems approach stimulus in 2010—own it or admit they’ve blown it?

The trillion dollar stimulus has failed on nearly every level. The stimulus was billed as a way to reverse rising unemployment levels and energize a struggling economy, yet Americans are confronting double-digit unemployment numbers every day, including a staggering 11 percent unemployment rate in Philadelphia. In short, time has proven the stimulus package to be a completely flawed piece of legislation that has plunged our nation into deeper debt and further proven that you can’t energize the economy by expanding the government bureaucracy.

Given these growing findings, it should come as no surprise that their record of supporting the stimulus is going to cause an interesting dilemma for Democrats. Do Democratic candidates support the awful legislation or do they own up to the faults contained within this awful bill? Bear in mind that the stimulus has been championed by Democratic Party leaders, including President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Arlen Specter, as being an incredible success for months, despite mounting evidence against its effectiveness. Whether they stay with party leaders or shrink from their vote, the people of Pennsylvania know they have blown an opportunity to help citizens to get more in favor of a trillion dollar giveaway to Democratic special interests.

With Democrats in D.C. kicking around ideas for a second economic stimulus bill as we speak, it will be impossible for candidates to avoid the subject. As a Republican, I sincerely hope that all the Democratic candidates running for office in 2010 support this legislation.  It will make my job even easier.
