Doherty has some ‘Office’ fun (Updated)

Having some fun with a hit TV show based in his hometown, Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty’s gubernatorial campaign has put out a brief Web video parody of “The Office,” in which it seeks to convince Democratic voters that Doherty is the only candidate who can break “The Cycle.”

That’s the 8-year cycle, in which the party controlling the governorship switches between parties every eight years, a pattern that has many insiders thinking it’s time for a Republican win next year.

The video, set for release to supporters Monday afternoon, juxtaposes scenes from the TV show with voiceovers about the trend and how to beat it.

Update: A Doherty campaign spokesman says the video has been removed at the request of NBC.

Dunder Mifflin is about to go bankrupt. Doherty is mayor of an Act 47 City. Perfect analogy.

Once again, you are wrong. Act 47 does not mean a city is bankrupt.

Oh, yeah. Sorry about that. It enables the mayuor of the city of Scranton to be financially supervised by a state appointed and paid board while the city undertakes “bankruptcy like actions.”

Love it. Most of these candidates bore me to tears. Doherty actually has some energy and passion. I hope he stays creative throughout the campaign. He could make a strong run at winning this thing

Loved it. So far, this is the only candidate who seems like he is worth taking a 2nd look at.

Chris Doherty is a thieving liar. He has Scranton around $300 million in debt. Do not vote for this clown.
