Chairman Barney Frank Endorses Joe Sestak for Senate

By SESTAK FOR SENATE

MEDIA, PA – At a news conference in downtown Philadelphia, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, Congressman Joe Sestak picked up an endorsement from Representative Barney Frank (D-MA). As Americans work to re-grow our economy, Rep. Frank “sits at the center of power” as chair of the House Financial Services Committee. His leadership has produced new consumer safeguards, restored financial industry oversight, and put us back on the path toward accountability and transparency in Washington and on Wall Street.

“Joe Sestak is a true Democrat who cares about the working families that have been hit hardest by the failed economic policies of the Bush Administration,” Frank said. “He’ll be a reliable vote for Pennsylvania’s next generation instead of having the same loyal Bush Republican we’ve seen over the past generation. I have to say I don’t think it did our profession any good for someone to announce that he switched parties purely so he could survive.”

The House Financial Services Committee, the second largest in the House, oversees the entire financial services industry, (including securities, insurance, banking, and housing industries), Federal Reserve, Treasury, SEC and other regulators.  Chairman Frank has long recognized Joe’s leadership as Vice Chair of the Small Business Committee, having worked together on a number of legislative initiatives to create new jobs for Pennsylvanians.

“If you look at Barney’s work, what I respect the most is that he consistently stands up for what he believes is right; principled, honest leadership is exactly what I intend to bring to the U.S. Senate,” Joe said. “For a person who always calls it like he sees it, I am glad that he sees the need for a new generation of leadership for Pennsylvania’s future.”

As the campaign continues to grow in all 67 Pennsylvania counties, more and more Democrats are seeing that this election is not about the last 30 years – it is about the next 30 years. In the coming months, Joe Sestak will continue to meet with voters throughout the state and make his case for change.
