Becoming a GOP surrogate
If the people who attended the groundbreaking Republican National Committee’s “Say it Loud: Media Surrogate 101″ program at the Marriott in West Conshohocken last weekend are any indication of how the Republican party is going to do next year, it’s going to be nothing but victories.
Even though this event was held in Montgomery County, people came from Chester, Bucks, Philly, DelCo, and as far away as Luzerne and Dauphin counties, despite the snowy conditions.
It was great being in a room with many familiar Republican faces, but also many names that are known in the realms of Facebook and Twitter. This program is energizing grassroots campaigners, as well as reaching out to young, hip voters, moms, grandmoms, college students, retirees and just about anyone who believes in basic core values that include personal responsibility, individual freedom, free market economy, strong national defense and limited government.
This “road show,” which has been to about five major cities, is getting raves from attendees, as the political experts share with the Republican activists, supporters and surrogates how to get the message out there with a computer and cell phone via new media, social media and articulating and refining the message and core principles of the Republican party. State GOP deputy chair Renee Amore spoke to the group as only Renee can—with her usual exhuberance and passion—and had the group enthralled. Amoore, head of the New Majority Council, spoke about serious issues too, as well as peppering her conversation with some humerous anecdotes.
Attendees included local and state committee members, candidates, campaign staffers, bloggers, Tea-Party activists and more.
Next year can’t come soon enough!
