UFCW Local 1776 Endorses Doug Pike

Ardmore, PA — Today, Pike for Congress is announcing that UFCW 1776 has endorsed Doug Pike for Congress. Along with the recent backing of Roofers Local 30, there are now 12 unions that have endorsed or given financial support to Pike for Congress.

“As a former member of two unions, it is a personal as well as a professional honor to have the strong early support of working families,” said Doug Pike. “People deserve a congressman who will fight to create jobs, pass strong health care reform, and make sure all our children receive a quality education. I will stand up for the hard-working families of Pennsylvania.”

In addition, Pike for Congress is announcing the endorsements of Lower Merion Township Commissioner Mark Taylor, Co-Chair of the Democratic Committee of Lower Merion & Narberth Mary Jo Daley, former Lower Merion Township Commissioner David Sonenshein, and Limerick Tax Collector Mark Painter.

Doug Pike served on the Editorial Board of The Philadelphia Inquirer for 14 years and was the President of a hospital for 10 years. Previously, Pike served as a Special Assistant and Speechwriter for U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas. In 1971, Pike graduated with honors from Princeton University.

The 6th District encompasses parts of Berks, Chester, Lehigh, and Montgomery Counties.
