Murphy’s sticking with Pike

Murphy’s sticking with Pike

Democratic insiders are watching to see who, if anyone, bolts from Doug Pike’s endorsement list next.

But don’t look at Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8).

Murphy said this week that he’s sticking with Pike.

“When I give someone my word, that’s my bond,” Murphy told PoliticsPA, “and I give Doug Pike a lot of credit for running for Congress when it was looking like it would be against an incumbent, Jim Gerlach. Now that it’s an open seat, I think Doug Pike has show the ability to generate the grassroots support needed to win that seat in both the primary and general election.”

Doug Pike’s campaign has been leaking air for months and none of his initial supporters – with the exception of Patrick Murphy now – have rallied around him. The silence is very telling. I have seen no primary polls for PA-06, but if the race is a deadheat, I don’t expect Party leaders will stick their necks out for Pike. They will come out only if Pike is able to build a cushion outside the margin of error, say a 10 point lead over Trivedi. But the way this race is going, I don’t expect that to happen.

Let me also say I’ve heard little from the Trivedi camp besides a lack luster fundraiser and a few sour grape supporters.

The comment from the second post is not me. That person should be banned from pa2010.com.

When Murphy gives someone his word, that’s his bond? What about his promise to the voters to be a fiscal conservative? He voted for the Stimulus, Cap and Trade, and now the Health Care Nightmare. His word is worthless.

Trivedi is a DINO who cannot be allowed to win this seat. When Dinniman endorsed him, he said it was because Trivedi appealed to Republican voters. What does that tell you? Primary voters will have a choice…they can vote for a Democrat, or they can vote for Trivedi.

    Fish-
Trivedi’s a doctor and was on the battlefield, as such, at the beginning of the Iraq War.
I think THAT will appeal to Republicans.

Trivedi’s general manner and how he explains the issues should appeal to Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.
