More harsh words for the GOP, courtesy of Arlen Specter
A couple weeks after calling the Republican Party a party of “obstructionism,” Senator Arlen Specter had some Election Day criticism for his old friends in the GOP. This time, he called it a “different party than the one Barry Goldwater was in or the one Arlen Specter was in.”
I think it is most unfortunate,” Specter said Tuesday on MSNBC. “It reflects the pattern of partisanship, really excessive partisanship.”
He did have nice words for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and his decision to partner with Democratic Senator John Kerry on climate change legislation.
“If there were more like Lindsay Graham,” Specter said, “we’d have the good old days like when I came here, when there were moderate senators.”

Well, he has a pretty strong point. Republicans are pushing moderates out and social ultra-conservatives in.
