Josephs not targeting Corbett… just his circumstance
From the annals of “it’s not you, it’s me” comes this report from The Morning Call, which tells us that state Representative Babette Josephs (D-Philadelphia) is floating a constitutional amendment to bar state attorneys general in Pennsylvania from becoming governor for two years after leaving office.
”Since the attorney general can indict anyone, it’s certainly possible to see a scenario where someone who’s seeking a higher office would use that office to indict someone for completely political reasons,” Josephs tells the newspaper.
This would, naturally, seem like an aside at current state Attorney General Tom Corbett, the Republican candidate for governor who is also spearheading a massive legislative corruption probe in Harrisburg. But Josephs says the bill has nothing to do with the man who has indicted members of her caucus, even as she acknowledges that people could see the move as blatantly political “if they wanted to.” Besides, any law like this couldn’t be enacted in time to impact Corbett’s candidacy.
To put it more briefly, one could hear Josephs saying: “I don’t dislike you… just everything you represent.”
