Does Corbett have any pop with the GOP?

On Election Day, the voters of Centre County awarded Democrat Stacy Parks-Miller a resounding victory in the District Attorney’s race, 65-35 percent. She smoked the Republican incumbent by winning 85 of 89 precincts despite receiving quite a bit of support from the state Republican Party as well as an “endorsement” from state Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial hopeful, Tom Corbett.

Corbett’s presence in Centre County a month ago may have done more harm than good to the Republican DA, many of whom were talking about him as one of Corbett’s possible “succesors” in the future.

It makes you question if Corbett has any strength or political pop within his own ranks to help fellow Republicans. And this wasn’t just any fellow Republican. This was a fella in LAW ENFORCEMENT who didn’t benefit from an endorsement from the top law enforcement official in Pennsylvania.

Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Joe Watkins will make a perfect partner w/Corbett.
Between Joe’s business background to Corbetts law eenforcement background…Joe’s new face and exciting speaking skills on the stump with Corbett’s solid, steady hand will make for a potent team come 2010. That’s if the PAGOP would dare to go big….

    -both western PA AG’s.
-both won “big” in their AG re-elect but can’t translate into a real election that isn’t automatic.

Well gee, maybe that means that Corbett will get a federal judgeship out of the deal!

Corbett could just as well be another Thornburgh: a former prosecutor who takes advantage of a divided Democratic Party. Only time will tell.
